An undiscovered ancient city was found in Bulgaria

Bulgarian archeologists have found an ancient city during their diggings near Chernomorets. According to Bulgarian newspaper “Standard”, it is amazing that this place was not only unknown for historians, but also it was not marked at any ancient map.

Later, hypothesis was made that the ancient city, which is now in ruins at the Hrisosotira peninsula (translated as “golden salvor”) near Chernomorets, used to be a strategic and trade center of the Byzantine Empire. According to archeologists, the area of the settlement is over 67,000 square meters that is six times as large as the Acra fortification located near the city. Experts believe the city was built in approximately V century, during the reign of Emperor Anastasuis.
